Our World At War – Reviews

The reviews are flooding in and the reviewers seem to like us!

Matt Butcher shows great range and his Pandarus is always fresh and impulsive, not afraid of playing many different notes in text and tone.”

A Younger Theatre

“Overshone slightly by the involvement of Cressida’s uncle Pandarus (Matt Butcher). Ramping up the camp allows Butcher to bring plenty of comedy in all his scenes – an unexpected show-stealer.”

Views From The God – Troilus & Cressida (5-stars)

“Pandarus is Cressida’s camp, matchmaking uncle, well played by Matt Butcher. His performance is the best of the production. Director Ricky Dukes certainly knows how to choose performers with an innate sense for Shakespeare’s linguistic nuances.”

Everything Theatre – Troilus & Cressida (4-stars)

“Matt Butcher’s Pandarus is a bright light guiding us through”

Female Arts London (4-stars)

A standout performance is Matt Butcher as Pandarus, whose camp exuberance at playing Cupid to the young couple is very funny.”

“Matt Butcher is excellent as both Pandarus and Cominius.”

Time Out London (3-stars)

“Pandarus (Matt Butcher), who behaves like the worst of matchmakers, is the comical highlight of the evening”

“a great example of how accessible and engaging Shakespeare can be”

Privates On Parade Reviews

POP shot 1Reviews are in for ‘Privates On Parade’.

Stage Whispers

“Matt Butcher plays Drummond, ‘the bad apple in the barrel’. He sneeringly derides the homosexuals, treats Sylvia and the locals appallingly, is suspicious of Flowers because he’s come from an intelligence unit and may be trying to catch him out on all his black market activities. This is real ‘hiss-the-villain’ stuff and Butcher does it remarkably well.”

Theatre Red

“Matt Butcher’s villain is wonderfully (and consciously) pantomime, and achieves both humour and real menace.”

Scene & Heard

But alongside the frivolity there are darker elements including the arrogant ordering around of the Asian servants….(and) the behaviour of the abusive, corrupt, homophobic Sergeant Major Reg Dummond (Matt Butcher). All in all, an enjoyable evening.
